free meditation: set your intentions for a new year

set your intentions for the new year...heck the new decade!

slow, deep and consistent breathing has been shown to have benefits in treating conditions ranging from migraines and irritable bowel syndrome to anxiety disorders and pain.

deep breathing activates the relaxation response, potentially decreasing inflammation, improving heart health, boosting your immune system and maybe even improving your longevity. the clinical explanation is that slow breathing stimulates the vagus nerve which runs from the brain stem to the abdomen and is part of the parasympathetic nervous system which is responsible for the body's rest and digestive activities.

in this  class, we will practice abdominal and diaphragmatic breathing and allow the slow breath to take us into short periods of meditation (stillness of the mind ).
